Smoke shop FAQ
What is the difference between a joint, a spliff and a blunt?
A joint is herb rolled in a paper. A spliff mixes herb with tobacco. A blunt is rolled in a tobacco leaf or cigar wrap instead of paper, so it burns slower and tastes of tobacco.
What size rolling papers should I buy?
1¼ is the most popular all-rounder. Single wide is for small, solo rolls, and king size slim is for longer rolls or sharing. If you would rather skip rolling, try pre-rolled cones. Our rolling papers guide goes deeper.
What is kief and how do you collect it?
Kief is the fine, resin-rich powder that falls off herb as you grind it. A 4-piece grinder catches it in its bottom chamber, and the scraper that comes with the grinder lets you collect it.
What is the difference between a bong, a bubbler and a dab rig?
A bong is a larger water pipe for dry herb. A bubbler is a small hand-held water pipe. A dab rig is a small water pipe made for concentrates, with a banger instead of a bowl.
What does 510 mean on a vape battery?
510 is the standard screw thread on oil carts and cart batteries, so almost any 510 cart screws onto any 510 battery. Very large carts may not fit inside concealed batteries. See our 510 batteries.
Nic salt or freebase: which should I choose?
Nic salt is smoother at higher strengths, which is why pods and disposables use it. Freebase suits lower strengths in bigger, sub-ohm devices.
Can you refill a cart or a disposable?
No. Both are sealed and made for one use. With a cart, only the cart is finished; the 510 battery is reused. Our vape guide explains more.
What is the difference between live resin and liquid diamonds?
Live resin is extract made from fresh-frozen plants and is known for flavour. Liquid diamonds are THCA crystals melted back into a terpene-rich sauce and are known for strength.
What is the difference between Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC?
Delta-9 is the main THC in cannabis. Delta-8 is a close chemical relative that is usually described as milder.
What does ring gauge mean on a cigar?
Ring gauge is a cigar's thickness in 64ths of an inch. A 50 ring gauge cigar is 50/64 of an inch across, the size of a robusto or toro.
What humidity should a cigar humidor be?
Around 65 to 70%. Use distilled water or a two-way humidity pack, and check it with a hygrometer.
What is the difference between shisha and a hookah?
A hookah is the water pipe. Shisha is the flavoured tobacco smoked in it, although in Kenya people often use shisha for the whole set-up.
What does 420 mean?
It is a code word in cannabis culture, and 20 April (4/20) is its unofficial holiday. 710 is the concentrate version: "OIL" written upside down.
